Politicians can be such idiots. Our economy is in the toilet and getting worse and NO ONE is taking appropriate steps to resolve our economic issues. I am 47 years old and remember the energy crisis in the 70’s. And I remember the horrible economy in the early 80’s. But I am seeing things now that did not happen then, and the biggest problem is fuel prices. We are in a sorry state folks and if we do not find a way to become oil independent we are in for a serious problem.

What really pisses me off is the fact that no one. Not one of our “grand” elected officials is taking steps to fix the problem. Democrats will  not do anything because the worse it gets the more they can blame on republicans and visa versa. Our arrogant, ignorant, party line congressmen would rather push their personal agendas forward than do the right things to fix our problems.

Here is a thought. Do you think anyone in congress worries about gas prices? Do you think they have to do without something so they can buy fuel for the family car? These lifetime members of congress are financially set for the rest of their lives. They do not understand what you and I face everyday. Out of touch and arrogant.

I could talk about this all day but I have work to do so I can buy a gallon of gas at $4.12. But let me leave you with this thought. In 1993 Osama Bin Laden predicted and in many ways made his prediction come true, that once crude oil reached $140.00 a barrel, the economy of the United States would crumble. What do you think?

So if you still think it is ok to just let our elected officials continue to do as they please in washington,  then hold on to your boxers. But if you have had enough and see what I see coming down the road, you better contact your congressman now.

 Spoony

I just couldnt ignore the stupidity of oil/gas prices. I have worked in the golf industry for the past 17 years. I have seen what some called a recession and what some called a surplus from an economic point of view. Now matter how bad it was or how good it was the golf industry as a whole stayed steady, until now. Gas prices have affected the economics of this country to the point of slowing probably the only consistent industry in the nation besides food and clothing. I have talked to everyone from retailers to manufacturers to golf courses and they all agree, things are slow to get started and the probability of their worst year is very likely.

What has changed? How about $4.00 per gallon of gasoline. People must use their recreational money to put gas in the car. Choices are being made everyday as to whether they should spend $25 - $50 for nine or eighteen holes of golf or to put a quarter of a tank of gas in the family car. Gas is gobbling up that little bit of extra money people had after they paid all their other bills and taxes. After I paid my energy bill, my car payment, my house payment, my insurance payments, my kids eyeglasses and braces, and my property taxes and my sales taxes, my business taxes, my personal property business taxes, my consumer taxes and a few taxes and bills I know I am forgetting, in the past I actually still had a few bucks to go and play 9 holes at my local golf course once or twice a week.
